Symphony Magazine Mentions Fort Collins Community Collaboration
This summer’s issue of Symphony magazine highlights our special collaboration last season with the Fort Collins Symphony in Colorado for their March masterworks concert titled “Image-ination.” Led by Music Director Wes Kenney, the concert showcased two pieces from our repertoire, Pacifica and Reflections of the Spirit, and the premiere of Fort Fun, a newly commissioned community piece that celebrates the vibrant, fun-loving people, culture and mountainous landscapes of Fort Collins. Photographers and organizations from around the community submitted over 500 entries, from which Nicholas selected 75 of the best images to choreograph for the final piece. Set to two short, foot-tapping string works by Richard Meyer and Calvin Custer, it was an instant hit with the audience!
Following the concert, Executive Director Mary Kopco commented that “the piece both visually and aurally captured the spirit of this breathtaking community.” This is our third community collaboration with Colorado orchestras in the past five years. Another project with the Boulder Philharmonic back in 2011 also made it into Symphony.
