Charlotte Symphony Honors Veterans and Our National Parks
This fall we’re presenting a Veterans Day concert with a twist. During the first half of the double concert series, titled “Land of the Free,” the Charlotte Symphony and Conductor Albert-George Schram will honor veterans and the ongoing World War anniversaries with our WWI and WWII companion pieces, No Man’s Land and Citizen Soldier.
Since their premiere in 2014, these dramatic historical pieces have been widely performed to a number of the available music options. For our concerts in Charlotte, the orchestra chose to pair No Man’s Land with Copland’s contemplative Quiet City and Citizen Soldier with Barber’s Second Essay for Orchestra.
For the second half of the concert, we’re commemorating another key event in American history—the formation of the National Park Service and their protection of America’s wildlands—with our inspiring new piece, National Park Suite.
We’re looking forward to sharing these experiences and paying our respects with Charlotte’s audience!
